  ITINERARY

Bucharest, Romania | The Parliament Palace (People's House)

Arrival at Bucharest (no. 1 on map) airport. Private transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.

Mogosoaia, Romania | The Mogosoaia Palace

Sightseeing tour, including the most interesting sites in Bucharest, like The Parliament’s Palace, also known as The People’s House, the second largest building in the world, after Pentagon, The Revolution Square, The Opera Square, Victoria Ave and the Triumphal Arch. Visit Village Museum, one of the largest open air museums in the entire Europe. Drive to Mogosoaia (no.2 on map). Near Bucharest towards northeast, there is a stunning castle beside a beautiful lake and surrounded by parks. Mogosoaia was built in the 18th century, during a Renaissance of the arts in the Southern province of Romania. Built as a manor house between the two most important cities at that time; Bucharest and Targoviste Under the reigning Prince Constantin Brancoveanu, Mogosoaia is a mix of Venetian and Turkish style architecture. Drive to Snagov (no.3 on map), a small village 40 km north of Bucharest, with its beautiful sixteen kilometer long lake. In the centre of the lake is an island occupied by a monastery built by Mircea the Elder (the grandfather of the famous Dracula) who also made the first documentary attestation of this church in 1408. During its history, the monastery was rebuilt by Vlad the Impaler and some other rulers of Wallachia. It was one of the strongest fortified church and maybe the richest in Wallachia in the Medieval Period. Visitors come here to seek the tomb of Dracula sitting in the front of the church altar. Vlad's murder is believed to have occurred in the forests nearby. Drive back to Bucharest (no.4 on map). Overnight.

Drive to Sinaia (no.5 on map), named the "Pearl of the Carpathians". Visit the summer residence of the first royal couple, King Carol I and Queen Elisabeth, Peles Castle, one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe. Drive on to Bran (no.6 on map) to visit the famous medieval castle built as a fortress - The "Dracula's Castle" – for the citizens of Brasov with view to defence the city. Prince Vlad used the Castle as a general headquarters during his incursions in Transylvania. For many years, it has been an interesting medieval art museum. Surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend and perched high atop a 200-foot-high rock, Bran Castle owes its fame to its imposing towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stocker’s Dracula. Built on the site of a Teutonic Knights stronghold dating from 1212, the castle was first documented in an act issued by Louis I of Hungary on November 19, 1377, giving the Saxons of Kronstadt (Brasov) the privilege to build the Citadel. Although Stoker never visited Transylvania, the Irish author relied on research and his vivid imagination to create the dark and intimidating stomping ground of Count Dracula, leading to persistent myths that it was once the home of Vlad Tepes, ruler of Walachia. While the association with Dracula is sketchy at best, the castle continues to hold a strong attraction for all fans of the Count. Return to Bucharest (no.7 on map). Overnight in Bucharest.
